Tilta announced their cage system yesterday. Looks the best so far.

It looks very cool and the price is good. I wonder why the battery plates (the v-mount, specifically) isn't a cage. I also want to know how the Sony battery handle powers the camera - does it plug into the camera through the lemo power port or through a dummy battery?

At first glance, this looks very well thought out. Say goodbye to being able to surreptitiously record video with the complete cage kit!

Cheaper than I thought. I went to the site but no purchase option.

Ha! Did they just release a slimmed down powerjunkie? (minus USB)

Also looks like they have created the power cables we were all looking for.

I was thinking of the camvate till I saw this. And its not as expensive as i thought, the cage is about $99. and the other adapters are less than that, at least the ones that have price.

And then I saw this:

Michael, looks like it’s your choice as they appear to have both options available. The power plate provides 12VDC for the 2-pin connector and there is a dummy battery option to insert in place of a real battery so that’s going to be 7.2VDC I think.

As mentioned in the Cinema5D review, it’s not a cage, it’s an ecosystem. Hats off to Tilta!

One think I’m wondering about: if you select the half cage option, are you still able to use all other options in the ecosystem? I do feel that the full cage can impede some button access so if there’s no need to go full cage, I prefer the half cage.

Oh great, another thing to pre-order. Now I'll have a chicken or the egg thing happening. ;)

That BMPCC4K cage ecosystem is subtitled Tactical Assault Armour. It certainly has a look about it that implies it’s ready to take on anything. Can’t even preorder yet, but preorders are rewarded with some bling (camera strap). Overwhelmed with that incentive to preorder... not!

Luckally it wont be necesary. When i first saw it i thought it would cost somewhere in the zacuto sphere or more. I quess they thought that it would be difficult to sell a system that would cost more than the camera.

Glad you can keep your wheels! The cage itself is very inexpensive but there are so many possible extra pieces that the cost to buy into the full ecosystem must approach the cost of the camera. Fortunately I don’t need to rush into rigging beyond what I have, but if I was starting from nothing, I’m so impressed by Tilta’s approach at this point.

This looks like a well thought out solution. Let’s hope it delivers.
