SoCal in the Sun | BMPCC4K Footage

Had family visit from the east coast, so naturally we had to go to Malibu and Santa Monica, as well as a hike up to the Hollywood Sign. Since I had just gotten my BMPCC4K back with my now right-side-up buttons ( ), I decided to do some shooting!

I just upgraded my grading setup and am still needing to get it properly calibrated (so far I've just done the standard SMPTE color bars adjustments via my mini-monitor 4k). Grading in general is something I need to become more versed in, so any feedback is appreciated. I went right to a film LUT off the bat using the Rec709 Kodak 2383 D55 that's in Resolve and I adjusted from there. It ups the contrast, but I like that look personally. One thing I'd like to do is a more stringent dynamic range test. This was pretty much run 'n gun cinematic home movies, and I feel as though I couldn't pull a satisfactory sunny sky back from the highlights (in the direct-to-sun shots). Anyways...

Thanks Rick. Really please with the low-light performance. This thing will sing during some narrative productions soon, hopefully!
