Pocket 4K - CF vs. T5 vs. SSD - Power consuption

PostWed Nov 14, 2018 7:55 am

Hi there,

Has anybody ran some test for power consumption comparing Cfast, Samsung T5 and regular SSDs? I plan to use SSDs only, but if battery life is drastically reduced by that, I might change my mind.

Cheers

Can you explain exactly how you did the test? Did you simply point the camera at the same scene and press record, or something different?

Yep. One scene. When the card was full, I threw it in the form and kept shooting the same scene.

Thanks for sharing theses results. So it useses quite a bit more battery. But a few more batteries is still cheaper than those CF cards ;P

Yes, that is good to know. With the cards likely using at least 15% less power than the external SSDs. If you’re planning on relying on batteries, that can mean an extra battery on a shoot. A lot cheaper than CFast media, but helps you be prepared.
