Does P4k accept unregulated voltage ?

PostFri Nov 16, 2018 8:14 am

Lamparte is selling a specific cable that includes a regulator for direct to battery dtap connection.. while BM‘s cable is just a cable. I believe that the camera is able to accept voltage from around 7v to 15v as many cameras do but after I saw this cable I started to worry. Any idea?

BMD has confirmed that you can input 12V via the battery compartment. That cable is good insurance if you don’t have another regulated source.

Can you tell me where did they say so?
Also...
Do you know what range is accepted in that or in the main DC connector? I believe it will accept from 7 to 18 or so. But I would like some official source.

On the "Tech Specs" page on the BMD website it shows power to be 12-20 volts.

I do not speak for the battery compartment voltage.

Not much info re voltage range in the user manual.

Marcello, BMD has commented that internally the camera works with 12VDC so the normal 7.2/7.4 voltage from the battery compartment is stepped up internally to 12. So applying 12VDC is acceptable. Search is too painful for both of us to find their comment buried in one of several threads. Respectfully, I don’t invent these things.
