Thanks Rick and Denny!

I already have a clip-on mattebox but want to avoid the hassle, weight and dimensions. I'm already considering getting rid of my smallHD AC7, all that stuff turns the P4K into a monstro :-)

Re: the IS comparison between the Pany/Leica 12-60 with the Olympus 12-100 on the P4K

I went into my local shop and and tested with both lenses. I have to say the the Olympus works better on the P4k. None of the jerkiness that the 12-60 exhibits above 40mm when trying to slowly pan. Between the extended range and manual focus stops, it really is the best all-around zoom for this camera.

The Wooden Camera ZIP box 77/80mm is very low mass and light, smaller than most Matte boxes, I use one on my PL 12-60 and Elite 9.5mm lenses. I have an extra one, which you can use, by adding a 72mm /80mm matte box adapter ring, which I might have a spare for also, if you are interested.
Cheers

Thanks for the offer, Denny! Guess my Genustech clip-on isn't much bigger, the main obstaction for me is having to push and pull 4x5-filters, I'm so used to fader-NDs. Guess I'll go with a tiny bit zoomin in on the wide end if situations need a lenshood.

Yeah, I've no concerns shooting at that length with the camera/lens combo when handheld.

I've even gotten stable, usable shots at 100mm on the Ronin-S. Though I'm not planning to use that focal length on a gimbal very often.

is zooming while shooting at F4 usable and smooth or unusable?

It's not parfocal, so you'll have to rack focus if you use the zoom during a single take.

You really can use a clip on matte box on a sensitive little extending photographic zoom like the 12-100?? Surely the weight of that plus filters is going to wear on the lens?

You can not use a full size matte box, but something light like a Wooden Camera Zip box with one filter would work OK. Small, lightweight rubber shade/matte box is not heavy, and should pose no additional wear.

I have the 12-35 II and 35-100 II Lumix Combo but still bought the 12-100 purely for the OIS. It's excellent to say the least. I took a shot at 100 (200mm eq.) handheld and with some light stabilization in Davinci it looks like it's on a tripod. Without the Davinci stabilization it's still awesome. If you go rigged with shoulder mount / grip with OIS on the 12-100 - it's rock solid. Zoom range is very handy for run and gun. Image is sharp / clean throughout the full range. Yes you get another stop with the other 2 but the constant swapping, the poorer IS is not worth it. Also you have hard stops on the focus - works great with a follow focus. If you want wide without no distortion, go for the Laowa 9mm Zero Distortion lens. I have one for my gimbal work - super awesome. Tried the 7.5mm and it's a little too wide IMHO. The 12-100 will balance on a Ronin-S if you're wondering.
