BMPCC4K - With the Lumix 12-35, extreme vignetting

PostFri Nov 30, 2018 5:53 am

Hey all,

I just received my BMPCC4K last week. I picked up the Lumix 12-35. So far from my tests I have been noticing some extreme vignetting in the corners when shooting at 12mm. It seems to be more biased towards the left side and I noticed it's not really static, has some bounce to it.

Has anyone else noticed anything similar with this lens/camera pairing?

Thanks for any and all info much appreciated.

To add one more bit of info. I did a test with and without OIS on and it definitely bounces less, however, the vignetting is still very very dark and present in the corners of the frame.

Can you share a link to a video showing the vignetting? As a GH5 owner, and someone interested in the BMPCC4K, I would really like to see.

Thanks in advance.

Don't see it. If there's any vignetting, it's not obvious.

I don't have any direct experience with the BMPCC4K, yet. But, from what I've seen from others who've used the same lens and other LUMIX lenses, I haven't seen any vignetting either. But, if it is happening, I'd like to see evidence of it.

Did you film in raw? The people that don't see this extreme vignetting are shooting in Prores. Try raw with the 12-35 and I guarantee you will see vignetting. I had the same issue but by correcting the lens distortion in Resolve I fixed it easily.

Yep was shooting in raw 3:1 and is super noticable. I have a link to a rough clip but i doesnt let me post it.

Thanks man, yeah i was thinking of just trying a lens correction and hoping that removes most of it. Any idea why this happens in raw and not prores?
Thanks again.

Just got the BMPCC4k combo with Lumix 12-35. I'm getting Vignetting zoomed all the way in and out in BRAW.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Not sure if I got a bad lens.....

Thanks
