Bottom of BMPCC 4K not flush?

Hi,
Has anyone noticed the bottom of the camera (the long piece above the mounting screw) has one side higher than the other...it's not completely flush with the body? Is this functional, or a cosmetic defect?

Oh, and my battery door won't shut ;-( Ughh

I think it's for cooling.

But the battery door seems to be crap on quite a few units.

Contact your local BMD Supoirt Office, and they will send you a new battery door.
Cheers

Thanks for the replies. Yes the battery compartment is an issue. BM rep has obviously acknowledged it. Replacement compartment on order.
He also thought the uneven piece on the bottom was odd, from pictures I supplied. Was suggesting an RMA. I see many box opening/review videos have the same body “issue’. To be clear, the portion of the bottom body is the one with the BM logo etc on it... not the heat vent. Anyone notice their copy is not flat, but rises up towards the ports side? Does it matter? Thanks.

Yes, it looks as though it was designed that way. The portion with the label is flat, but the body surrounding it curves. You can verify that using a ruler or other straight edge.

Woah yeah that's a manufacturing issue I the pictures provided as any uneven footing would provide a slightly tilted image even when level.

A good one to keep an eye out for, the bottom plate seems to have either a tolerance issue or hasn't been installed correctly

I have had a close look at many review videos. They all seem to be made this way. Does your copy?

Have you tried putting a straight edge accords the two bottom edge supoirt points and compare this to the tripod mounting point? All three points might end up being plumb to each other, which will give you a good thee point support in a large tripod plate. Also, how does the camera fit in a cage, any miss alignment issues there.

Just looking at the one corner in thenposted photos, it appears the camera body drops away, but the base appears straight. The curve of the case may be giving the illusion that it is higher than it really is :?:
Cheers

Thanks for all your replies.
See attached picture.
I think it’s level with a manfrotto plate, but with a wider plate?? Hmmm...I will have to investigate.
I don’t have a cage to test with it yet either.
The curve of the body on one side does give the illusion of it not being straight.
I’d really like to hear from a BM rep on the manufacturing (my copy, right or wrong), and what others are seeing. Cheers.

Ah yes the body roll off may be giving the illusion of a non level footing! Good catch.

You are welcome. When all else fails, break out the straight edge :!:

I can see from BM’s owns website, that the footing appears to “stick out” from the bottom of the ports side. See screen grabs.

That is to create a flat bottom, on a case that is up lifted and rounding at rhe cornners. Seems to be by design.
