4K Production Camera on a Pan/Tilt

PostSun May 26, 2013 9:14 pm

I am hoping to acquire 2 4K Production Cameras.

One will be manned and tripod mounted.

The other, I am hoping to place mid room on a pan/tilt head of some sorts.

I am wondering, will this work?
Any suggestions on how to best go about this?

Was hoping there was some sort of unit that I can control the pan/tilt & lens/camera for this?

Possibilities so far that I have thought of:

For a pan/tilt head, get something along the lines of this:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/64399-REG/Bescor_MP101_MP_101_Motorized_Pan_Head.html

To control the lens on the 4K camera, use a LANC remote such as this:
http://www.manfrotto.com/rc-pan-bar-lanc

and extend it using something like this:

Video out to switcher using a longer 6G-SDI cable.

Any help with this would me much appreciated.

We do a live broadcast as well as record for post-production

Thank you!

It'll probably work.

The BMPC-4K weighs about 3.75 pounds without a lens or other attached accessories. You might research a motorized mount that can carry more weight than the one you linked to. Ask B&H for assistance.

Since the BMPC-4K isn't shipping yet, we can't say with certainty which LANC accessories will be compatible with it.

You could leave that detail for later (once you actually have a camera in-hand). Meanwhile, if you haven't already placed a pre-order for a BMPC-4K, you should do so immediately. Otherwise it might be many months before a pair of cameras is available; and, depending on demand & back-orders it many take longer regardless.
