P4k -- play in two-pin Weipu power connector normal?

PostWed Jan 16, 2019 7:20 pm

I like this locking Weipu connector (my power cable is from a third party supplier), but when connected to the P4k the connector wiggles appreciably in all directions except in-and-out. Consequently, the camera remains powered just fine, despite the connector being jostled and it feeling rather loose and fragile. Have others noticed this, too? Or am I making a mountain of a molehill?

Did you guys figure out a solution to this? I'm having the same problem. The internal male connector on the camera seems to be solid so I'm thinking its the weipu itself. But I've tried two and both had play. One was the wall power cable that came with the camera.

In a word, "no." However, I didn't state a problem, so I didn't bother looking for a solution. Mine has worked flawlessly; it just feels fragile. That is all.

The stock BMD power supply does wiggle too. My first was defective and the power would cut out. The replacement does wiggle too but works as expected.

I have the same issue - it worries me its so loose as the internal pins are so thin.

Definitely not good as I’ll often need to be recording long duration clips under mains power with the camera panning and tilting which will put some stress on the power connector unless I can clamp It somehow to keep the connector free of stress.

Since first posting, I've played a lot with the camera, both hand-held and on tripod. I shot my first long concert recently with pans and tilts. Not once did the plug flex nor did power cut out. Frankly, because it worked as expected, I just forgot that I raised it as an issue in the first place. I suppose that is a good thing...

The Weipu connector on my US$42 Blueshape L-Tap to DC cable started showing a lot of play and then simply came apart. Judging from B&H reviews of Blueshape's Pocket 4K/6K cables, I'm not the only one who has experienced this. One of Blueshape's L-Tap to Weipu cables has two reviews, both one star due to the same problem.

Looking for recommendations for a different brand. Also, is anyone having these cables custom made? If so, how is that working out?

Thanks

Mine also has play, but it hasn't come off yet.

Just received this Kondor Blue cable (US$35), which will hopefully turn out to be better made than Blueshape's $42 cable.
