Interesting find Leon, this solves the ENG lens hassle/issues when buying a new camera. But what about just getting the lens on its own? Currently only listed as being available with the Ursa Broadcast camera?
Cheers

It looks like Robert found more info on this lens.

It was something that appeared in my Google Alert re Blackmagic.
I cannot find anything more.

Leon, I've found the info here:
https://www.nmav.de/Fujinon-URSA-Bundle

The price is nice for the bundle: €7,944.64 incl. 19% VAT (€ 6,676.17 excl. VAT).
Subtracting the price for the URSA Broadcast - that means the lens would cost €3,500 excl. VAT.

I guess there will be some system to buy the lens separately by sending in your Ursa broadcast Serial number. I mean. otherwise all owners of a Ursa broadcast should buy a new camera to have the lens?

3,5K for a 4K lens is not that expensive. Most HD lenses do cost that. But i wonder what options does it have?

Is it compatible with a normal zoom remote. or only lanc.
Will it be able to remote focus. (the ursa is capable of sending this data.. If it works is a second ;) )
Will the event be streamed?

Agreed Daniel, €3500 is not a bad price, and having a focus Servo is also one of my questions. Additionally, it lists electronic back focus adjustment, is this finally working with the Broadcast camera?

No Fujinon has a electronic backfocus system. Which means you still have to push a button, zoom in / out push button in out push button..

i have JVC HM890 with a digital Fuji lens which also has this system. (amongst having IOS and motorised focus ** Even auto focus if you want)
But once you detached the lens and need to adjust your backfocus again you have to look up the correct procedure and takes about 10 minutes to get it right..

Rather give me a backfocus ring. Works much much faster. :D

Yes, and more reliable. I had a Canin XL-H1 with “electronic back focus) on its included zoom lens, did not work very well and was hard to get the bsck focus set correctly. :( Ended up removing the Canin kens and putting my Fuji Servo Zoom on it with a Manual backfocus, and as you said, Daniel, much quicker to set. 8-)

Can't be the Canon XH-A1 because that one had a fixed lens block and no user-adjustable back focus.
I guess you meant the Canon XL-H1, right?

Yes, an XL-H1, thanks Robert, I only used it for a short time, and I am terrible at abbreviations like this, always getting them mixed up.

I am seriously considering this lens, below is the spec sheet I found.

https://www.avacab-online.com/WebRoot/S ... LA16x8.pdf

I presume the discussion re- the electronic back focus is just that, back focus and that the lens is parfocal?

I come from owning the Canon XL-H1 with 16xManual lens which had manual back focus (hardly used the stock lens).
DaVinci Resolve 15.2.3, MacPro 2009 upgraded to 2010, OSX Sierra 10.12.6, 2x 3.46 Ghz 6-Core Xeon, 64Gb Ram, Nvidea GeForce GTX TITAN 6Gb, 4TB SSD (2 x 2TB in RAID 0). URSA Broadcast

Fujinon 4K lens designed for Blackmagic URSA Broadcast

PostTue Mar 19, 2019 8:14 pm

Fujinon zooms are normally parfocal but use a manual back focus adjustment to dial it in when the lens or mount may have a variance due to wear and tear or simply temperature fluctuations.

This electronic focus button that adjusts the FFD has me confused though. Is this intended to be used when you want critical focus to be on a different object as you zoom? If it’s a required focus adjustment while zooming, I suppose it’s not the end of the world given it’s electronic, but doesn’t sound as appealing.

No doubt NAB 2019 will have this demonstrated.

Rick, I think the back focus is electronically controlled via the controller in the zoom handle, vs the mechanical adjustment of turning the manual Back focus ring, adding a more convenient adjustment that can be done on the fly, perhaps.

That said, B&H is packaging the Fujion XA20x8.5BRM, a non-Broadcast Video Zoom with internal mnpanual focus and Servo Zoom, lens along is $5K ($600 off).

For a better quality HD zoom that is close to 4K quality the Fujion HA18x7.6BERD ENG B4 Zoom, is an electronic Servo Zoom and Focus lens, that will auto focus on the Ursa Boradcast, and allow remote focus and zoom via the ATEM. However, this is a $20K lens.

It will be interesting to see what the price of the new 4K Zoom formthe Ursa Boradcast will cost.
