Speaking of external power, does anyone else think the BMD supplied external power supply cable is too short?
There’s always a need to somehow support the power brick on a tripod somewhere instead of just having enough cable to lay it on the ground.
At the length it is now, I think you have unnecessary strain on the cable if it just hangs from the power input with nothing to support the brick. I often put the brick in a bag and dangle it from the tripod head’s underside fixing bolt. Not ideal because the brick needs airflow not to overheat.
They should just make the cable a couple of feet longer.
Xlr is useful also with battery only setup, you can put a battery in the plate, another battery in xlr by a cable dtap to xlr and record continuously without interruption Denny Smith give me info about this tips
Nice find Ivon, looks very useful. Carlo, yiu are welcome, using two batteries is how we rigged ENG cameras to record events, you can use any decent size 12-VDC battery, including small Motor bike batteries and rig up a cable. Cheers
I suppose now that we know the pin-outs, I could just wire up an extension cable to let the power supply sit on the floor. I just need to find a couple of 4 pin male and female XLRs and then it's pretty cheap. But that strap is a good idea, too.
