I was doing some test shots for my feature that I'm shooting and I watched the playback on the camera and then I plug it into my SSD reader and it's not there. Has anyone had a problem like this happen to them before?

I have SANDISK Extreme 480

I think its weird and I have not had anything like this happen yet, probably just a fluke but wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else.

Can your computer read the files?

Um...no it's not. Its weird. I have had this thing for over two months and nothing like this has happened, of course it happens two days before we go into production.

Nope, been using it for the whole time I've had it. Yes, I've been playing with the camera for the past 2 months, I'm no dummy when it comes to computers I used to put them together and I built all my friend hackintoshes, I know what's up, this is just bizzare

Have you been formatting your drive when you delete content, or are you just dragging files off the SSD into the trash can, and popping it back into the cam?

Deleting files without formatting will cause issues like this.

Well I'm glad that's the problem, I had my thoughts that it was your SSD docking station not reading the SSD , sorry but I assumed you knew when and how to format the SSD.
Glad you got it sorted out nonetheless.

is this a MAC advice? I always just dragg the files off the SSD onto my PC and never had an issue so far.

Do all of you format yor SSD once you offloaded it?

Like memory cards in cameras it is best to reformat the SSD once you have transferred your data rather than just deleting the files. Deleting the files causes the data structure to become fragmented and to reduces the performance of the SSD.

An SSD in a computer with a modern OS gets de-fragged by the OS in the background. This does not happen to the SSD in your camera.

on one hand that makes completely sense to me, on the other I'm wondering about de-fragging a SSD, as tipps on using SSDs in computers say that one shouldn't defrag SSDs ... ?!

Modern OSs do file structure optimisation in the background. So there is no need to de-frag.

They advise not to defrag SSDs because it impacts the lifespan of the SSD for little or no benefit to the OS.

However formatting the SSD gives the camera the best possible condition to write data to. When you record video you are doing long sustained data writes at very high data rates. You want as few obstacles as possible.
