Yes it dies have excellent optical corrections. My Oly 14-35 f/2.0 was outstanding on my AF100, and the Micro Cinema camera. I do not know where you guys are getting the idea this is a inexpensive lens? Current EBay prices are more than $1500 to $1800 for a used lens, and more than $2K for a new one!
The Oly 14-35 Zoom is an excellent lens for video work, it is parfocal, has true coupled manual focus, a f/2.0 that is useable, image is sharp (iris is coupled to zoom to give a constant f/stop), distortion is well corrected, and has a wounderful IQ, similar to Angenieux. Only downside is AF is “push to focus” only, not as fast as newer MFT lenses, but does work well, their is no continuous AF however.
That said, I have a mint lightly used 14-35 f/2.0 with the Oly MFT adapter that is available, PM me for details.
The Pana Leica Zoom ramps up the f/stop when zooming, as a f/stop is a mathematical computation based in focal length and iris pupil diameter, as you zoom, when the iris diameter remains constant, but the focal length changes, the f/stop value changes. In most normal Zoom changes, is is only about a 1/2 stop change, which can be compensated by auto shutter angle/shutter speed change. To have a coupled iris, which would change the iris opening to compensate for the focal length change, would increase the cost of the lens considerably. Even Zeiss took this ramping up of f/stop on their new low cost Cine Zooms.
Cheers
