Excellent! Thank you for the post. I was looking forward to an EF - BMPCC4K specific speedbooster so this is great news!

So the above link details the new name for the old EF-BMPCC adapter, and says the details of the new BMPCC4K adapter(s) will be published separately. Hope to see that posting shortly although it could be official at NAB 2019 in two weeks!

Metabones does have a SpeedBooster for PL mount lenses. I’m so curious if they’ll add a new PL-BMPCC4K SpeedBooster, even if it’s devoid of electronics.

... and what will be different to the existing „xl“ and „ultra“?
I didn‘t understand that.
For now they recommend „ultra“ for aps-c and „xl“ for full frame lenses.
Will the new one suit all lenses?

And btw. I saw there are a „Cine“ version of the „xl“ and „ultra“ ... what is the diffence here?

There's some defects with the current Ultra and the edges don't look great. They will likely correct the optics for the wider sensor. How good it will be is anyone's guess.

...i just bought the Ultra for 700 $ - what will the mean? I expected Metabones to support the Pocket in the future..would be rather pissed off if they just drop a new product and don't add support.

@Niklas Olofsson - CINE versions have breech lock mounts like PL mount and locks down the Canon-mount lens very tightly.

@Dune00z - it was not a defect - the greatness on Panasonic did not carry over to Blackmagic 4K because the two have different sensor filter stacks. FWIW the GH5s had a wider sensor, too, and that was supported, and worked well.

@Janis Lionel - if you don't use any Panasonics, try to return your ULTRA.

Well put Bo-Ming, the Metabones Ultra and XL were not made for the Blackmagic Pocket 4K, they were made for the Pana GH4/5 sereis and Oly MFT Cameras. Everyone was saying Metabones probably would be coming out with a specific model for the new Pocket 4K, especially given the overwhelming success in sales of this camera.

That said, both Sped Boosters still work quite well with the new Pocket 4K, and AF issues have been fixed with the recent FW update.
Cheers

I hope the USB port is USB-C. Considering USB-C is replacing USB Micro for everything, I hate keeping the odd cable around if I don’t have to. We’re getting to the one port future more and more everyday, and we’re already using a USB C cable with the Blackmagic Pocket 4K.

Hope it works with the canon EFS lens.

Ricardo, always best to check the Metabones website for approved and disapproved lenses before purchasing.

Does Image Stabilization work with the current Speedboosters when paired with the BMPCC4?

I also just bought the Ultra for 900$. I plan to use only full frame Canon EF glass on the blackmagic (I wanted to only use the centre of the glass for better quality. Has someone tried Ultra with EF (not EFS) Canon lenses. Are there any problems. If so I will plan to return it and wait for the blackmagic version.
