BRAW what does "highlight rolloff" do?

PostWed Apr 03, 2019 8:32 pm

Coming from using exclusively CNG Raw files, i've grown accustom to using the highlight option in the Raw tab to lower them before i start grading to get a better image.

But now, since i'm using BRAW, the "highlight rolloff" option in the Raw tab seems to do nothing.
I have the latest version of Davinci and Camera updates.

There's an equivalent control in the Primary correction window, "HL", bottom right on the second set of controls. Most of the braw raw controls appear to be in relation to "mid-point" values.

Anyway, there's nothing magical about the old cDNG controls. In most cases, you can achieve exactly the same effect using the Resolve tools available to all footage.
