Hope someone makes just a simple EVF just to see without anything else.

You mean like the old Leica ones https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1046771-REG/leica_18767_visoflex_typ_020_electronic.html but with the extra addition of a HDMI cable? I hated those on a camera but could be useful on a BMPCC4K.

But that’s only LCD and add $600 to incorporate a microOLED and HDMI/SDI and you’re back to the EVFs about the cost of the camera. There is the option of only buying with the connection you want such as HDMI (I could see myself wanting that too). But one day you’re likely going to wish you had SDI.

I contacted them and suggested the simpler evf they liked the idea and said they will have it.
I told them of the bmp4k specific need.
I could also use it with my fs700 and maybe other cameras.

Have it your way, but I want my basic PVF (Pocket Viewfinder) to have the microOLED screen rather than the LCD. I expect that model option to be more than $599.

Don't care, I'll have whatever's the most affordable and having used these EVFs for years, I'm more than happy with the LCD versions. It would only be used for focusing in bright conditions, so everything else is irrelevant.

I am totally with you on this.

Yes, those type of EVFs used the cameras LCD controller/processor, which was setupmfor both screens, but this was an either/or setup, only one worked at a time. They did work well, if you had good vision and did not wear glasses. But as I got older, and my glasses did not allow them to work very well, hard to see the screen, and poor eye relief, etc. Once you start using a larger pro type EVF, especially an OLED, there is no going back. Anything else is a compromise. I need the EVF to pull accurate focus, and these small Micro EVFs do not work for me to do that. But, each to their own, and it is nice to have choices
Cheers

For me i'd rather focus through an eyecup than on a monitor

I suspect that this Pocket4K will continue to sell well and someone will step up with the right features for a reasonable price. I know the Pocket4K screen will be my least favourite operational behaviour. I’ve used a jacket over the URSA Mini 4.6K and found it often awkward to keep in position and access camera controls. Maybe BMD will come up with something. The numbers of sales might warrant the PVF development but I realize it’s so hard to predict the uptake and that might make it more expensive than it should be to encourage buyers. It needs to be under $1,000 for an HD OLED option if that’s even feasible.
