BMPCC4K | Autumn in BRAW Q0 video

PostMon Apr 22, 2019 12:03 pm

Having a few days off over easter weekend my girlfriend and I went to the Blue Mountains, around 2h west of Sydney.

The colours and light being so nice at this time of year I took the BMPCC4K and decided to shoot a bit of footage in BRAW Q0.

I previously tried the new format in Q5 and was curious to see its full potential.
I am really impressed by the quality so far.

Everything was shot handheld and mostly in 60p to test out the card's limits. I did experience some drop frames even if I was using a really fast CFast card but only for a couple of shots.

I still think I will keep shooting prores for now but BRAW is an awesome format and a great option when needed.

Cheers,
Flo

BMPCC4K | Autumn in BRAW Q0 video

Florent, in the Q0 clips that had some drop frames, do you recall what you were shooting? I’d like to use Q0, but not sure if my Wise 3400x CFast 2 card will be reliable at 48-60p for 4K/UHD. The Wise SDXC card can handle 24-30p I believe, but the CFast 2 may stumble above 40p. Which cards did you use?

I was shooting UHD 60P, and I think I was filming trees and leaves etc. The card is a Wise 3500x. First time I had some drop frames with that card and I think it is due to the variable bit rate so probably was too much for certain clips.

Thanks, Florent. No way my Wise 3400x will do that so I think that kind of complexity in 4K/UHD 60p is out of the question at Q0. Perhaps 3:1 is safer at 60p. Q0 at 30p hopefully will be fine on my card.
