Best alternative for original LP-E6 battery

PostTue Jun 25, 2019 7:06 am

Good morning

As this forum doesn't allow searching for "LP-E6" I'll ask here.

The original Canon LP-E6 has a capacity of 1300mAh, and I've seen third party LP-E6 with higher capacity like 2000mAh or 2600mAh.

The Patona LP-E6/2000mAh has some mixed reviews regarding battery life...
also the Wasabi 2600mAh model gets even more odd reviews from lasting longer than the original to lasts only 1/8 of the Canon LP-E6.

Anyone using a replacement LP-E6 for the BMDPCC4K here?

Better to stick with the original one and maybe get the battery handle for extending shooting time?

thanks in advance

You convinced me (o;

Just found an old rechargeable battery from Patona which I bought to replace an original Sony battery...
after charging is was almost empty within minutes of shooting pictures (o;

Sounds like those fake USB sticks who claim large capacities but are in real life just old 8GB sticks (o;

Ah...just saw that there is an original Canon LP-E6N model with higher capacity that the one delivered with the BMDPCC4K...1865mAh instead of 1300mAh.

1800-1900mAh is real life limit for LP-E6 type battery size. Maybe cells with up to 2000mAh are exist in original expensive Canon batteries but no one will put them inside cheap LP-E6 shell.
2600-3000mAh is average capacity of larger Sony NP-F type battery so this capacity is total fake for LP-E6.
Try Batmax brand. They are low cost and use original Sanyo cells. I use them about few months with BMMCC and monitor and must say that they holds well.
