I crashed my ssd yesterday

Hi.

It is probably user error but still.

I took out my ssd after some shooting and did put it on my computer dock.

It was corrupted.

Only thing i think i may have missed is the shutdown time.
May that be there needs to be some time to let cam do shut down properly ?

Rule of thumb:

Shut down the camera, when you change SSD or Lens.
Put the SSD in your dock first - THAN plug in the dock.
Same goes in reverse.

What do you mean ?

plug in power or plug in usb when in dock?

Maybe i just did connect cable to charge and this did put my cam in different state
that failed data setup on ssd?

Frank's advice is good. I think, with the SSD having complex operations going on related to the internal controller managing all data on the SSD, it is a good idea not to do anything quickly. Give it some seconds to finish its internal processes before shutting down the camera as well. An SSD wasn't really designed to be used in a removable device in the sense that the way we are using it in the BMD cameras, at any moment after recording something, you can instantly pull it out of one electronic device and stick it in another, format it and and then immediately put it back in the first device. Slowly might help. Like driving your car through a turn rather than on the straightaway.

Yes i try to exercise counting to ten before i remove ssd.

, then the MultiDock Thunderbolt would have to be unplugged from the AC and the TB connector every time I change a SSD?

DOn't know about TB since I'm on PC, but that's what I do with USB3/eSATA

Maybe I'm paranoid and over-thinking it , but I haven't lost a single SSD since I do it that way.

What i did i probably overloaded cam with commands. It seems reasonable not to press every button
10 in a row. it is not game console

so it may be that i just made a lot of button pushes and jerked out ssd before complete shutdown.

will go out and play some more after my long office shift ends in few days.

i have usb3 dock with separate power button so i use that at the moment instead of
cable removal as i see sometimes sparks when i connect usb and miss align the cable that
it goes against alu made mac box.
