Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera and Firework

PostWed Jul 10, 2013 4:58 pm

We´ve to produce 100 different films from single firework products and have a look on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. We need 3 cams for different views. We own a bulk of MFT-Lenses.

What you think, is it the right cam for a job like this?

In general, for fireworks you'll want to have a huge dynamic range - the pocket CC i supposed to have that. Maybe you also need a wide angle of view? That's a bit of a problem with the super 16 sensor and its 2.88x crop factor, both other BM cameras have larger sensor. Lack of autofocus and fixed iris won't matter in this (an most other) recording situations. If you want to record raw, you are limited to only a few minutes of recording time on the available media, could be a problem if you have longer events to shoot, yet ProRes should do just fine. Also think about batteries.

The Pocket CC probably isn't the best camera for the job, but i figure it will perform well.
