Can't hear sound from Resolve

Hello Resolvers,

Davinci Resolve version: 18.6.6 (and 18.4)

I am not sure how that happened, but most likely, it is something I enabled/disabled by accident. The issue was present in version 18.4 and is still present after upgrading to 18.6.6 and after reinstalling. I do not hear any sound when I add a video clip or just an mp3 file. I checked all audio settings and cannot find a way to enable it. However, when I shared my screen using MS Teams, the other person could hear sound coming out of Resolve. I can hear sound from any other application on my desktop; only Resolve is quiet. Attached is a screenshot of what I see; it appears as if music is playing but not on my speakers.

Can anyone suggest how to reset it or what to do to hear the sound? I appreciate any help.

Can you please provide details as to Resolve version, operating system, Audio IO configuration in Resolve's Preferences and within the operating system's audio setup.

Is the Control Room metering active on the Fairlight page?

On the Fairlight Timeline the Control Room is muted in the Monitoring panel.
Click the red speaker icon to unmute.

Sorry, I was troubleshooting and forgot to enable speakers. That did not fix the issue. DR is playing mp3; master volume does not show any sound activity.

As a troubleshooting step, open the Fairlight menu > Patch IO and patch the System Generator as source with the Osc option to Track Input as Destination (patch to a new Mono Audio Track - e.g. A2).

Open the Fairlight Mixer and in the Input section and select Path Settings. In the Path Settings window enable Thru.

Is the Oscillator audible?

I hope I did it properly; this is how I patched it. There is no audible sound, even after DR restart

Are you seeing metering on the destination Track and on the destination Bus and Control Room with the Track in Thru?

Sound still evades speakers.

Is the Track A1 in Thru?

Reynaud, Thank you, it is fixed!. After patching, I went back to preferences and I changed system to Samsung and I can hear the sound!!!

Follow up for anyone experiencing a similar issue. Prior to patching input/output, I could not hear sound. Now it works most of the time. When it does not work, I need to go back to the Davinci Resolve menu > Preferences > Vide and Audio I/O

My fix is to toggle between the output device either the system device or my speakers. If the system does not work, Samsung speakers will. If Samsung speakers don't work, the System device will.
My system speakers are set to Samsung; I do not know if it is a Windows issue or a DR issue. At the time of this issue my Win 10 is fully patch, updates, all drivers are at their latest firmware.

Kudos to Reynaud Venter, I was stuck for weeks before his help.
