USB HDMI capture card not working

PostSat May 11, 2024 6:32 am

I try to use a low cost USB HDMI capture card (such as this one on Amazon ELASO HDMI to USB-C Type-C Video Capture Card 4K/1080P 60fps) for a personal project but Resolve (18.6) doesn't seem to recognise it.

Should this work and the issue is with the capture device or are there specific settings in Resolve to make this device available?

Thanks for any insights

DR will probably only read from BM devices.
But you can try OBS for recording. Check which format will run smoothly in DR on your hardware, though.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

I understand OBS is a third-party software outside DR. I use that to record a video stream and then use that footage in DR for processing? Did I get that right?

Yes. OBS is a free software for your personal internet 'broadcast' station.
It offers a few formats for recording, all based on ffmpeg. You'll have to find out which one(s) are compatible.

Got it. Found and installed OBS. What a great piece of software. Works as mentioned. I can bring in the video capture device, record the stream and then add that to DR as a media clip.

Thanks again
