14.2 : Rohit's "What's new" file question

PostFri Dec 15, 2017 9:46 am

Hey,

Won't be able to upgrade before next Tuesday I think, but I'm happy to see there's still improvements going on, congrats BMD.
Now, I'm too impatient to wait these few days to understand what's underneath these :

* "DaVinci Resolve 14.2 requires a database upgrade from DaVinci Resolve 14.0.1 and previous versions"
Hmm, well, it's ok if my DBs back ups are from 14.1, right ? ;)
* Added support for automatically naming Gallery Stills using user-defined tags
Sounds pretty cool, but could you elaborate just the principle of what changed ? Is it a chosen prefix based stuff ?

I admit I could wait a bit to experience this myself, but thx in advance anyways

My 14.1.1 database open in 14.2 w/o needing an upgrade. (I backed them up anyway.)

I can confirm I got no "updating database" message while opening a 14.1 database in 14.2 a few minutes ago. And this is after I spent over an hour backing up the 14.1 database.

Everything works fine so far.

 Ok, thx Marc, I take your comment into account not to reproduce the same useless action then (your experience is useful for others if this can comfort you a bit).
Thx to you too Peter...

If you are updating from 14.0.1 or before you need a database upgrade. Otherwise not.

Hey, I was overdue in not backing up my Project Database for a week, so I'm not complaining.

One useful thing when backing up databases is to right click on the database's name (on the first screen, which lists databases on the left and projects on the right) and choosing "Open File Location."

Sometimes I forget where a database is located, and I may a few different versions floating around. That helps me to be sure I'm backing up the most recent version, and not some other version I misplaced.
