[SOLVED] No Cuda Hardware - v14 Mac - GTX660

PostMon Jan 22, 2018 2:20 pm

Hello,

OSX: 10.11.06
I have an Nvidia GTX660 2GB and recently installed the latest version of Davinci 14.2 (previously was using v12) and I have the latest drivers for Nvidia CUDA and I get the message 'No Cuda acceleration hardware detected'. On Davinci 12 everything was working fine. Now I can only use OpenCL acceleration and everything is so slow.

The GTX660 on nVidia site & wiki says it is CUDA supported. It was working before when I was on Davinci v12 and the same OSX version. Why doesn't it work now?

Also, on System Prefs the CUDA drivers says 'Update required' but it has already the latest drivers. If I click on the info it says 'Your CUDA driver currently installed on your system need to be udpated. Please update to the latest drivers.'

Does anyone know how this can be fixed?

I greatly appreciate your help!!

My specs are :

MacPro 4,1 (Early 2009) 2 x 2,93 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
24 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2047 MB

Maybe the fact that I don't have the latest OSX is interfering with the CUDA latest drivers as they are no longer fully supported?

The cause will probably be unrelated, but I used to get that same message on every version of Resolve before 12.5, with an x58-i7-950 and GTX470OC combination.

I was told it would be my hardware at fault and that 'it didn't have Cuda processors', and then a wall of silence when I pointed out Adobe and Iray apps found the Cuda hardware okay,...

12.5 and 14 both find my pair of GTX470OC's with no issues.

Expect your answer to end up being "Buy new GPU".

Try using the Nvidia Web Drivers instead.

Select the appropriate one for your OS or it won't install. Then make sure in the System Preferences you are set to use the Web Drivers and restart.

Yeah, definitely use the web driver from NVIDIA website.

Also, Resolve 14 minimum OS supported is 10.12.6 according to release notes when you download it.... maybe that’s the problem...

Nope. El Cap + Nvidia web drivers work well with DRS 14. :)

Thank you for your replies!!

The CUDA 8.0.90 driver works just fine. It seems I had the latest version of CUDA and I needed a downgrade.
