Color picker not working after 14.3 upgrade

Hello,

Have just upgraded 12.5 to 14.3. All working fine, except the color picker doesn't activate in any mode - all the lights on nobody home! Doing exactly as before in 12.5, adding node, selecting picker which changes pointer to eyedropper, click on any part of viewer but nothing happens. Same in key mode. Same for all projects where color picker had previously worked in 12.5.

I've gone through trial and error in various modes and settings, checked through prefs, and searched on forum but doesn't seem this is a common problem or bug - I must be missing something really simple!

Check in the qualifier palette that the picker is not set to soft+ or soft-

Thanks for quick reply, the picker is set to sample eyedropper. I've done trial and error with picker in other modes with no change to picker not selecting. I haven't tried it in the soft (feather icon) mode.

Any other thoughts on cause?

Has there been a fix for this? My Mac pro dual d700 OS 10.13.3 on DR15.1 and advanced panel have this issue. It is intermittent so I know tough to solve.
