Timeline Animations

PostThu Nov 15, 2018 5:32 pm

Love the new timeline animations in 15.2. Makes it easier for the eye to follow exactly what's happening after the command.
My Biases:

Hi
I`ve looked into Timeline and View tabs, but couldn`t figure out how to "activate" / use timeline animations.

Hey Gerron,
It's not not a specific function, not something you can switch on or off ... simply it means that fluidity of the user interface display (when performing functions like ripple editing) is now improved. Its smoother, cleaner, more detailed. Its not something that can be switched on or off.

Thank you very much for the info, Andy. I just can`t see any meaningfull difference compared to the last Resolve version (regarding timeline animation).

Performing a Ripple Delete used to be instantaneous, making it somewhat difficult to see exactly what moved and where.

With the new animations, the clips are animated into the new position, making it much easier for the eye to follow along with what's moving and where to.

It's not on the order of adding Fairlight or Fusion to Resolve, but it is a nice improvement that I never even knew I wanted, but would now miss having had it.

I'm sorry, but I have the opposite view. Please Blackmagic team turn off this feature because the animation is confusing when editing, especially if the timeline is zoomed and you can not see it in zoom to fit view. Sometimes after the action you do not know what exactly happened - clip slipped or moved, slide?

Very please allow DaVinci for professionals at least to be able to turn off this circus in preferences.

Losing the animation won't help that at all if the changes occur "off screen". But it helps a LOT when the changes are made "on screen", which is 99.99% of the time, I'd wager.
