Resolve Lite

PostThu May 16, 2013 5:20 pm

I'm keen on using Resolve lite and have downloaded it.

I have a friend who has a Macbook Pro 13" - 750gb HDD, 8 gb ram, MAc OSX Lion Jan'13 version.
I've tried Resolve Lite on his system but it doesnt work.
I was reading up that the 13" doesn't have a display adapter that can support Resolve Lite.

Just wondering if this system will be fine>>>or can you suggest another one, but I am certainly only loking for a Macbook Pro Laptop only, no desktop.

15-inch: 2.3GHz

2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz
4GB 1600MHz memory
500GB 5400-rpm hard drive1
Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 512MB of GDDR5 memory
Built-in battery (7 hours)2

Will the ram on this machine be sufficient?
A question for those who are using Resolve Lite on a 15" Macbook Pro - What's it work like. Your system details with experience will help me make choices on the computer.
Would appreciate any help.
Thanks

We can't say it until you tell us which kind of file you will work on.
HD? Prores (or any intermediate codec) or RAW? 4K? 5K?

I personally don't really need the power for realtime playback, but what I really want is a LARGE monitor to work on. Since Resolve interface can't be splitted between 2 monitors, you need one with enough resolution. Mine is 2560x1440 and i find it low

I am forward planning Resolve Lite and a new Macbook 15" (as per specs above)
You can suggest what would be the best option to run Resolve lite.

I am planning on using various files from numerous cameras such as -

1) The new Black Magic Pocket Cinema
2) The MFT Black Magic Cinema Camera
3) AVCHD files from GH2/GH3

As a second option please can you let me know what files I can use, as you rightly mentioned - Pro Res, Raw, etc.. comfortably with the above Macbook pro system.

Do let me know and thanking you in advance.
Best :)
