I downloaded the free version of Resolve 16 but is unusable

PostTue Nov 12, 2019 8:17 am

My laptop specs are
Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU N2830
@ 2.16GHz 2.16GHz

Ram: 4.00 GB (3.90 GB usable)

System type: 64-bit operating system
x64-based processor

And is on window 10 version 1903

I don't know much about laptops but, is there any reason why it works really jumpy and almost unusable?

Thats clear, your system has absolut no power to use Davinci, look on the homepage of BM to see what are the minimum specification. Good luck,

Yes, unusable on such hardware.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

If you can’t upgrade to a more powerful computer, you might take a look at Lightworks. It has a pretty light resource footprint.
Microsoft Windows 10 Pro x64

MB: MSI, BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. A.60, 12/17/2015
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960, 2Gb

4 GB of RAM is barely enough to load the operating system, let alone run Resolve with any level of acceptable performance.

4GB RAM?!?!

No offense, but go buy a lottery ticket. Now.

DR shouldn't even boot up on that thing.

Build a Windows 10 desktop instead.

Just looked at the DR product page. And nope, minimum system requirements still not spelled out. Even if you get past the download button in the header and make it to the download buttons at the bottom.

Check the Troubleshooting FAQ post on this forum for some descriptions of system requirements.

Minimum specs here:

I agree with the others that less than 16GB of RAM and a Celeron chip won't cut it in 2019.

Yes, I know where to find them. I've been with DR and around the forums for long enough that I've stumbled across it.

But someone with a cheap laptop who heard about DR and lands on the product page probably will not know where to find them. They'll install DR and wonder why it doesn't work well. To find out some of this information requires a treasure hunt through various documents and web pages.

I must agree on that one. We can not blame the poor users who come with a small system or laptop enthousiasticaly willing to try out some amazing cool sofware they heard about only to realise it totaly desintegrates their system upon startup. And then to top it offprobably getting laughed at on this or other forums whenthey ask why it does not work. Totaly not their fault.
Minimum specs should be front and center on the download page.
Or at least some large font warning that it requires a hefty system and a link to the details document.
