Unable to Launch Resolve 16 Studio with CUDA enabled

PostWed Nov 13, 2019 1:01 am

Hello everyone,
first off, here are some spec highlights:
    Resolve 16.1.1.005 Studio
    HP Z820
    Windows 8.1 Pro
    2 x GPU
First (Used for 2x GUI): Quadro K4000
    Second: GTX 780
    NVIDIA Driver: 441.42
    CUDA Toolkit: 10.1.243

I've attached the Resolve Logs:
DaVinci-Resolve-logs-112019_ 02202.zip
(998.94 KiB) Downloaded 11 times

My problem is that since updating to Resolve 16 the error message continues to come up stating that no CUDA cards could be found. All my searching around seems to suggest that both my graphics cards are CUDA compute compatible >= 3.0.

I've tried completely uninstalling both the drivers and Resolve.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Hi
I have exactly the same problem with my Nvidia K2200 graphic card.
If I install davinci 16 beta version it start normally.
Alistar from support is also working on it.

I discovered that cuda was not working for any program. After effects could not see it either. I used GPUz (program to analyze GPUs) showed that cuda could not be initialized. So I downloaded a much older Nvidia driver, I had to select beta drivers in the archive section to get a driver that was old enough. And then GPUz started to recognize the Cuda, which then worked in after effects. However resolve still wouldn't see it. I read on one forum that the Nvidia drivers for these older cards are not working properly for Windows 8.1. I can't update to Windows 10 to check this as I'm mid project.

So, to summarize I believe the resolve update requires the new Nvidia drivers to utilize cuda. And separately I believe there is a problem with the new style Nvidia drivers and windows 8.1. I think updating to windows 10 will allow those drivers to work. Sorry for lack of version numbers of drivers but I'm not Infront of my machine.

That should probably be changed. Resolve is designed for Windows 10 only.

If you're not able/willing to upgrade to Windows 10, older versions of DR are available on BMD's support page for DR. One of them may work on your system.
