Why Added Sound FX Dont Always Play!??

PostTue Dec 03, 2019 5:09 pm

So i have a 'wooosh' audio effect that i use along with the Video Transition 'Push' but im noticing that the wooosh audio effect doesn't seem to always play. On some cuts i have it will make the woosh sound but on others it will not, or the saem section it played the audio it will then not, or just play part of it!. Any ideas why it seems to be hit and miss weather it plays the audio at all?

Here's a video clip showing the issue.....

What format are the sound files in? In general, you're better off with 48kHz 16- or 24-bit WAV files. Resolve can play MP3 and AAC files, but it puts more stress and overhead on the CPU.

I believe there mp3, what program would you recommend to convert them?. Would such a small clip put so much stress on my cpu (Haswell i7 4ghz) as to stop the clip from playing?

Is there a royalty free sound FX database you know of that works well with Davinci?

You can probably use Resolve to convert the MP3's into WAV files.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Audacity is a free app that can also do this conversion.

iTunes (available for free in Windows and Mac) will convert MP3's to WAV, but be aware that you'll be stuck with the limited sound quality of the compressed MP3's. It's always better to use original WAV files for music, sound effects, and dialogue.
