Database will not connect

PostTue Jan 28, 2020 2:04 pm

I have a student having trouble connecting to his database located on his external hard drive. Everytime he opens Davinci it makes him reconnect, but then not matter which name is types in continues to receive the error in the picture "New database cannot be created. Database "dig313_video2" is in use." We have tried a number of different names something as simple as the letter a and it will not connect. Any thoughts on what this issue could be? In my experience as long as that hard drive is plugged in and the user has connected to it before it should be in the list of connected databases and automatically show up.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

does he have read/write permissions to that drive?

If it's a Mac, make sure the external drive is not ExFat formatted. That won't work.

Sorry for the delayed response, here are the responses from my student:

Can you connect to different local databases on his system drive?
- I assume you mean the local database on my Mac... yes, I can connect to that just fine.
Can you import the external databases from other hard drives?
- Yes. So it’s probably an issue with this specific hard drive.
Do you have read/write permissions to the drive you are using?
- yes
Is it formatted to be ExFat?
- No, it’s Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
What version of Resolve do you have ?
- Yes, V16.2.2.026
Are you on Mac Catalina?
- Yes, Catalina 10.15.3
