Bought DaVinci from AppleStore, now can I use it on Windows?

PostWed Feb 23, 2022 11:48 pm

Hello everyone,
I bought DaVinci on Apple Store one year ago, for my MacBook. Now, I'm installing an assembled computer with Windows. Someone can help me to understand if can I use my DaVinci on the new Windows Computer?
And if is the answer is "yes", how can I do that? Because I can't find any "serial number" or "key", or any account on BlackMagic Website where I can download again the software for a second unit.

Thank you everyone!

Do you have either a card with your licence key on it - or a dongle that plugs into the computer? - I believe you ought to have one or the other. The software is here https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/ - You'll need your card/dongle. These should be treated 'like cash' - it says on the back (of the card) that lost cards or activation keys cannot be replaced. ...I keep mine in the safe!

Even on a Mac the one from the App Store is a crippled version. You should have bought from BM, then it would be portable to the PC. IMHO, BM doesn't do themselves a favour selling through that channel.

Sorry for the bad news.

I'd assume he had a reason to buy it, David.

:o I didn't know that! Horrendous! - And you're right, BMD are doing themselves no favours allowing this!
