Changing resolution freezes my DR

PostMon Feb 28, 2022 5:37 pm

I was working on a project for a vertical app and I had to switch the resolution to 1080x1920. This accidentally switched another one of my projects and I'm trying to switch it back to 1920x1080 but whenever I do this my Davinci Resolve loads forever and says (Not responding) and I have to restart my application.

How can I go about in resolving this?

I've uploaded the broken project, if you can try to change the resolution to 1920x1080 I would appreciate it. Beware: It loads forever for me so it might do the same for whoever tries it.

Were you intending to share only a bin?

That's a .drb file. DaVinci Resolve Bin.

To share the project, go to the Project Manager and Export to a .drp file. (DaVinci Resolve Project)

It works, but as soon as I try to save any resolution, it loads forever. I guess I'll have to stay away from changing the resolution for this project. Thank you!

Generally you don't change the Timeline Format in the Master Settings once a project has begun.

If you need timelines with a different resolution, you do that only for that one timeline.

That said, I got it to work by closing the vertical timeline. It has some Fusion assets not available on my system, so I assume they're plug-ins. (Makes me wonder if they're the cause of the issue.)

I was wondering if the fusion assets were also causing the issues. I made a copy of that project and erased all the nodes within the composition and left nothing, but the project (with fusion composition being empty) still loaded forever when I saved a new timeline's resolution.

And the resolution was accidentally changed on this project, usually I don't touch the resolution. I tried changing the resolution with other projects and it worked fine. So, I'm not sure exactly what's causing the issue.

I'm having this issue as well. Even when I change the resolution at the Timeline settings level its loading forever and making me have to Force Close the app. Really struggling on finding answers on how to fix this

same here. need to edit in 1920 x 1080 then export a version at 1080 x 1350. changing the res or creating a new timeline and pasting footage into it leads to spinning beachball. no help from restart.

EDIT: I FOUND A SOLVE. Not sure if it'll work for others, but here's what I did.
I saved my project as a new project
I changed my project setting output scaling to be what i wanted (UHD).
I setup a smart bin for timelines and disabled all timelines except for the one I wanted to change the output scaling settings for
I then duplicated that timeline and disabled the original one
On the duplicated timeline, I changed the output scaling to be UHD. Saved it.
(Not sure if this will work for changing TL resolutions, but worth a try.)

I ran into this as well. I changed my Ouput Resolution to HD for my UHD timeline so I could monitor the image on my HD monitor via my decklink card. Now, when I want to reset it to use Timeline Settings for Output Scaling, or when I change the Output Resolution in Timeline Settings from HD to UHD, Resolve gives me the spinning wheel -- i left it on overnight thinking it'd get somewhere, but eventually was forced to restart resolve.

As of now, no way to reset the output resolution back to UHD, and I believe, that if I have it set to HD here, and try to render UHD, I'll get an upscaled HD image instead of my original timeline resolution of UHD. :(

Can someone please advice? Will updating to 19 beta help me here at all?

Thanks
Nikhil
