Using Number Keypad for Trimming an exact amount of frames.

PostWed Nov 30, 2022 7:30 pm

Hello All,

I am new to Resolve coming from (Avid) and I have found a lot of answers to my questions by googling and watching videos. However I can not seem to find an answer to how to use the number keypad to trim an exact amount of frames. I want to be able to hit + 5 to go trim forward 5 frames or -5 to trim backwards five frames while in trim mode. I don't like dragging the edge of clip in trim mode to get to the exact number I want to add. It takes too much time to get exactly five frames whatever number I want to add or subtract by doing that.
I am working on an iMac if that matters for this question.

Thank you,
Lara

Near an edit point with plenty of head/tail room on the clips? Hit T to enter trim mode (ripple), then V to enter trim mode at the edit point. Then U to cycle incoming/rolling trim/outgoing. Type +5 <enter> to trim forward 5 frames, -5 <enter> to trim backward 5 frames.

You can type +1. (period) <enter> to trim forward 1 second, and so on...

Does that help?

Well I had changed all my keyboard settings to Avid so those commands I had to figure out what they were in resolve and add them to a place on the keyboard that was available. But I couldn't get it to work.

Thank you so much I had to change the + and - buttons back to Increment and decrement timecode. All works now.
