I fully agree with that.
But at the time my publisher asked for the article, nobody but Asus had a sample with an Nvidia and at least 8 GB VRAM. Even that review sample came after an odyssey around several countries in Europe. The others were advertising their mobile workstations in the same issue of the magazine, but unable to deliver.
What I took away from this test was one interesting observation: if your GPU is getting close to its limits, it may help to avoid the extra load by not rendering directly into a GOP codec. This may apply not only to a laptop. What surprised me, was that Cineform seemed to be less demanding than DNxHR.
