'Change clip speed' is missing or greyed out.

I'm in Resolve 18.1.4 (free version) though this also happened in 18.1.3

Trying to create a freeze frame effect
(method as per
)

but when I right click there is no 'Change clip speed' option

When I go to the clip drop-down from the top menu it's there as an option but greyed out. (as is freeze frame, and retime controls)

I'd really appreciate if someone could tell me the fix.

This is a video clip on the Edit page?

Not a title?
Not a still?
Not a Compound?
Not Fusion?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Hmm yes well that'll no doubt be the issue but I am wondering how to fix it.

I am working on theh edit page at this point, but it is a fusion composition (a jpeg file of a map with moving line and pop up city names etc)

I wanted to pause for a period of time during the animation, but not sure how to do that so I tried the normal 'freeze frame' thing I'd do for a video but it seems that's not the way to go about it.

So I guess I just have to figure out how to do a pause in the animation instead.

Cheers

Did you try making it into a Compound Clip?

I would make changes to a Fusion comp within Fusion.
