Can Davinci offer 12bit RGB SDI out?

Hello,

Can DaVinci Resolve Linux is able to output SDI RGB 12-bit signal using DeckLink HD 4K or 3D Extreme?
If not, do you need the DVS or a Quadro with SDI to enable 12Bit RGB output?

Thanks.

No.

Yes.

Is this still the case, or can the 12G Extreme support 12 bit RGB SDI out? If not, are the NVidia and Atomix still supported? Does it require Linux, or will Windows work?

:) Cheers, James

Spec sheet says 12-bit RBG 4:4:4 in all modes up to UHD 30p. Out of curiosity, what do you need 12-bit monitoring for?

Yes, the spec is right, I am working with a post house that wants to output to dual link, 4:4:4 12 bit Cristie projector, but so far the best we can get is 4:4:4 10 bit RGB. I found another thread on this forum that said it was only supported on Linux with an NVidia or Atomix SDI. Ideally we want to use the Extreme 12G, if possible.

HDR, Dolby Vision, DCI complaint editing and grading perhaps!

This is interesting. So BM is not supporting it on their cards.
Nvidia SDI is discontinued.

I assume you can achieve it with BM, but not directly from Resolve. You would need to render it as some supported 12bit format (DPX 12bit or 16) and then use eg. Tweak's RV player which is very decent.

MediaExpress may also work although it may need some fancy uncompressed 12bit RGB MOV (gbrp12le (or be) pixel format in ffmpeg). Maybe 12/16bit DPX will work- no idea.

NVIDIA SDI cards are no longer supported in Resolve, I think since version 7 or 8.

Decklink Extreme 4K and Decklink Extreme 4K 12G both support 12-bit 4:4:4 with Resolve for the last 2-3 years at least.

Awesome, thanks Rohit! I have the Extreme 4K 12G. I will go and try it again. Is there a setup guide for 4:4:4 12 bit SDI output? I found the latest configuration guide, but that is more about computers, storage and controllers.

So original problem lies in fact that that Tahir is using to old card.

This what I thought, so first answer was bit misleading.

That's from 2014, probably true back then! :)

This is the problem with reviving dead posts from decades ago.

FYI All -

Got it working with the Extreme 4K 12G. Thanks for your help

Cheers

Rohit, can you confirm that the Decklink Extreme 4k 12G supports 12-bit 4:4:4 in DCI 4k resolution (as opposed to only in UHD mode)?

If so, does this also apply to the Ultrastudio 4k Extreme 3?

I had previously asked this same question, as according to the spec document, 12bit 444 RGB maxes out @3840x2160, not 4096x2160.

The 8k extreme card is listed as supporting DCI 12 bit 444 RGB @ 30p, but I'd prefer to be able to use the Decklink 4k or Ultrastudio 4k due to the additional i/o that is included.

Thanks,

Simon.
