Enable "Fast Start" on h.264 delivery?

PostFri Feb 21, 2014 3:39 am

Hi All,

We are using the PIX system to manage our dailies for our next feature. It requires h.264 movies that have "Fast Start" enabled on them in encoding. Is there a way to turn this on in Resolve somehow?

Thanks,

John

No, if files are not good as they are from Resolve you have no option to change it.
Your faster way is to re-wrap with ffmpeg with -movflags faststart.

There is an option in v14 for this. However, v14 is still in beta.

Hi Everyone,

Now that Resolve 14 is out, can anyone point me in the right direction to enable fast start on an H264 delivery for PIX?

Thank you!

On the Deliver page for H.264, I noticed a Network button. Perhaps that’s it. Sorry can’t check as we just lost all power.

Per the Resolve manual, page 1219, the Network Optimization checkbox is what you want.

Why option can't be called as most people know and recognise it- Fast Start?
Network Optimisation is made up by BM name which is meaningless for about everyone. This is example of bad design.

Thanks, Simon, for confirming that. Yesterday’s wind storms took power out all over coastal British Columbia.
