missing clip

PostSat Mar 23, 2024 9:47 am

Hello

I'm apparently missing a clip. This icon in the very left, top corner, is red. The clip used to be in DOWNLOADS folder. There is no such clip in that folder. Also I have no clue what the file name is. It doesn't say, just missing clip. Done full disk search. Nothing. I've gone through all timelines and bins and nothing is missing or off-line.

is there a way to see, where and in what bin/timeline, that missing clip used to be? Or find the file name? it's kind of odd to me it just says missing clip and nothing else

If you put the Bins in List View, you can add a column called Online Status. Maybe that helps?

And you can check its original path.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

thanks for the reply - it was already ticked. Also off-line reference. But I don't see what that should do anyway. There's noting offline or missing in my bins.

Just that reference of the "relink media" icon in the left hand corner that is red as if a clip or file is missing.

Well, then your clip was in that folder the last time it was seen.
But if nothing is missing in your timeline, just delete it.

how do I delete it?

(I mean it's just just to my annoyance, but still) how do I see the file name to begin with? Then at least I can search for it. Or the bin that it's supposed to be in?

If that icon is red, there is.

Somewhere.

You can also try rendering out the timeline. If the missing clip was used in that timeline, you'll get a warning. If no warning, you're good.

Maybe not in a bin, but under Master?

isn't there a way to at least see the file name? then at least I'll know what kind of clip it is... or a pathway to a bin or timeline. I have many timelines in my project. and all is good apparently, nothing is missing or red, which things usually are when missing or offline. I'm just annoyed by it :-)

nothing seems wrong there either. I have no clue as to what to look for. Nothing in my bins or timelines are red or missing.

I couldn't find one.

But when I looked in the bin where I knew it was, pretty easy to see the "offline" clip in Thumb view. (Admittedly, though, that bin only had a dozen clips.)

I have mine in thumps view - nothing is missing anywhere. Super odd that it doesn't give you the file name or something more to go by. Where that clips is in the bin

You can set up a Smart Bin to list any offline files. If that bin is empty then the 'red' linked clips icon is likely just a false positive which you can safely ignore. If the bin contains any offline file(s) you'd otherwise overlooked, then you can check the various clip details.

wow that offline file tuned up there. thanks a bunch. Solved. I have no clue why it didn't turn up red in the regular bins or in any of the timelines. Wasn't a clip as such. it was an audio file.

thanks for the tip..that did it.
