Random rendering artefact

PostTue Apr 16, 2024 2:47 pm

Hi All,

I have this issue since a while.
After rendering there is a lots of artefact, mainly big lines.
I have tested on two machines, Mac and PC and it is the same, but randomly.

This video was very simple, just a trim, no color correction or FX, just a compressor within Fairlight.

If some of you already have this issue or if the experts have an idea, it would welcome ! ;)
Thanks in advance

Assuming the artifact is not present in playback outside of Resolve, my first idea is a GPU issue.

What kind of media is it? From what camera?

What kind of hardware are you running?

Free or Studio version of Resolve?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Intel or Mx Mac? If the latter, I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the sources.
I've never seen PC and Mac Mx showing such artefacts identically when rendered.

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for the answers!

I'm running the Studio version 18.6.6, on an iMac Intel (Radeon Pro 64)
The video file is a recording from Epiphan Pearl (AVC HD), but I've also had this with a motion design from After Effect, rendered also in AVC. I just wanted to add some music in the motion design and the render bug.

This rendering issue have also been seen on on big project with footage from Sony FX3 (also AVC), lots of text animations, and a bit of color correction.

I also had this issue on my PC, Intel i9 9900K / RTX 2080 with the same projets.

I've tried to do the same in FinalCutPro, same footage, same edit, very few just a trim in/out, and no problems.

But it's difficult to say whether it comes from the video source or from DaVinci Resolve...

Many thanks for your expertirse ;)

Arff !!

So weird !
I try re-render this morning, AND ! No issues...
The only thing I did was to quit and relaunch DaVinci, not even the Mac... (I think I did the same yesterday, but not sure...)

I don't understand ;)

Could be a heat issue then, maybe the thermal paste of the GPU has dried. But on two machines at the same time that would be weird.

Well, not sure for the heat issue, I've also had this problem on a Mac Book I used when traveling...

I think I will have this problem again... ;) so I'll keep investigating and get more info.
It is just strange that I seems to be the only one who have this problem, so there is probably a reason with the file I'm using or the way I work...

I'll keep you in touch!

Thanks for the help any way ;)
