Resolve 18.6.6 Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Not Supported?

PostWed Apr 17, 2024 12:30 am

Good evening,

I just installed Resolve 18.6.6 (I had previously used Resolve 11 off and on) and am having issues with it loading.

I've attached a link to my logfiles, but if that doesn't work, I'm running the following:

Windows 10 Pro (updates are current)
Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H mainboard (this has onboard Intel graphics, but is disabled at BIOS level)
Intel Core i7-3770 3.4 GHz CPU
16 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU (12GB)
5 TB free disk space

After reading through the forums, I did the following, in this order:

Uninstalled Resolve
Rebooted
Uninstalled all GPU drivers with DDU
Rebooted
Reinstalled fresh download of Nvidia Studio drivers
Rebooted
Reinstalled Resolve

I am still having the same issue.

Selecting the processing mode and GPU manually or automatically makes no difference (the RTX 4070 is detected in the settings.

Below is a Google Drive link to the logfiles

Any ideas?

Thanks!

What exactly makes you think the GPU is not supported?

When I open Resolve, the splash screen appears, it gets to "Loading Audio Plugins", then a dialog box appears saying "No Supporting GPUs Found", and it gives me the options to Quit or Update Configuration.

Got it.

Your monitor(s) is attached to the 4070, not to any mobo outputs?

Hi

I can confirm that the RTX4070 is fully supported in Resolve 18.6.6, I have a standalone Render Server that uses an RTX 4070 and has been since its release.

I would be more inclined to think the issue is platform related, the intel 3770 is 12 years old and you have paired it with an up to date OS & GPU.

Even the launch version of Windows 10 (1507) did not have official support for the 3770. Let alone the most recent versions.

Whilst W10 will technically run on a 3770 there are zero guarantees that you will not have issues. I doubt nVidia validate their drivers for a CPU that old either.

Not sure what Resolves min CPU specs are now for v18 but for v15 the 3770 barley scraped clear of the min required.

Jim,
Yes, my monitor is attached directly to the 4070. Nothing is attached to the onboard GPU, and the onboard GPU is disabled in the BIOS. It has never been enabled, and has never had drivers installed for it.

Peter,
I was unable to find minimum CPU specs for Resolve 18 either, all I could find was this:

Windows 10 Creators Update.
16 GB of system memory. 32 GB when using Fusion
Blackmagic Design Desktop Video 10.4.1 or later
Integrated GPU or discrete GPU with at least 2 GB of VRAM
GPU which supports OpenCL 1.2 or CUDA 11
NVIDIA/AMD/Intel GPU Driver version – As required by your GPU

I know that the 3770 is quite an old CPU, though if the CPU were the problem, I wouldn't think that I would be getting a GPU error.

I've been running Windows 10 on this PC with zero issues since it was released (though that doesn't necessarily mean anything) A new CPU and mainboard are definitely in the future, but I'm hoping to keep this one going at least until Microsoft drops support for Windows 10.

I did see that someone had been running 18.0.4 on an i7-10510U with onboard graphics. Granted, a much newer CPU, but it benchmarks close to the 3770. Most of the footage I work with is recorded at 1080i; I'm not expecting blistering performance, but I'd think it would at least load.

After Realizing that previous versions were still available for download, I uninstalled Resolve 18, and installed Resolve 17, and received the same "GPU Not Supported" error. I uninstalled 17, and installed 16, which works perfectly.

OK.

My best "WAG" is that updating your mobo might help. Your CPU is pretty old. Updating to a 12th Gen Intel (or later) would also bring about mobo advances which will allow that 4070 to run at full specs. (Which it likely now isn't.)

Thanks, Jim.

An upgrade is coming in the future, but for the time being, Resolve 16 has been working flawlessly, besides a few file format issues (I sill work with HDV). It just threw me for a loop with it kicking out a GPU error.

Thanks again!
