Color-grade Doesn’t Export on Davinci Resolve 18.6 Windows

PostSat Apr 27, 2024 9:25 pm

I am having a problem with exporting my project to reflect the color grading lut I added to my individual clips. I’ve tried almost everything. Flat pass is off. I turned my proxies off and made sure optimized media and proxies are turned off in the advanced setting section under delivery. I restarted Davinci. Since I don’t have MAC there’s no option to “Use Mac display color profiles for viewers” under the General section in Preferences.

To give some insight, I generated some proxy files for my project to make the editing process more smooth. I colorgraded on the proxy files thinking it would be okay and Davinci would still render my project with the color grading. After some research I then realized it might be better to turn off proxy and optimized media to see if the color grading would reflect after rendering. Still, no color. I even tried taking the color grades off and reapplying them after turning proxy off, no color after rendering still.

Please help me I don’t know what to do at this point ):

My Footage Settings-
resolution: 4096x2160
Frame rate: 24
Pixel Aspect ratio: square
Video codec: Blackmagic Raw
Audio codec: Linear PCM

Under Timeline Settings- (What I set them to)
Timeline Resolution: 2150x3840 Ultra HD
Monitor Video Format: 4K 2160p 24
Output: yes to Use Timeline Settings for Output Scaling
Color science: DaVinci YRGB
Timeline Color space set to: Rec 709-A
Output Color space set to: Rec 709-A

Under Preferences:
Yes to…….Use 10bit precision in viewers if available
Yes to…….Automatically tag Rec.709 Scene clips as Rec.709A
Yes to…….Automatically check for updates

Under Custom Export- (I have been playing around with color space and gamma and formats to see if anything changes but here is where I left it at)
Format: MP4
Codec: H.264
Encoder: AMD

Resolution: 2160x3840 Ultra HD
Frame Rate:24
Encoding Profile: Auto

Advanced Settings-
Pixel Aspect Ration: Square
Data Levels: Video
Color Space Tag: Rec.709
Gamma Tag: Rec.709-A
Data Burn In: same as project

Use Optimized Media and Proxy media are NOT selected!

When rendering do you have Single Clip or Individual Clips selected in the Render Settings? If Individual Clips, select the Render Timeline Effects box. Individual Clips is intended for round trip workflows, and without that box selected will bypass any FX applied.
I'm not sure which version of Resolve introduced that option.

I don't believe that option was ever needed for Color, Charles. Mostly for audio and Edit page effects like speed changes.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

It sounds like you have checked the correct boxes for the workflow.
It might help to share some screen grabs of your node tree and work areas, or export and post your project so we can take a closer look. It could be a very basic setup that as soon as we see it we can say "oh, you can't do that"
