Noise Reduction Effect creates artifacts after export

PostFri May 10, 2024 7:42 pm

I've been using the noise reduction effect on two clips in my timeline and the results look incredible aside from the fact that these strange artifacts pop up on random frames after export.

Is there something I can do to get rid of these? I've exported the videos many different times playing around with the NR settings and I cleared my cache and nothing seems to work. I included a screenshot of what the artifacts look like.

wow, that is the defination of artifact.... almost worthy belonging on the same shelf as the LSD artifacts of v11...
.
assumeing you can playback cleanly
assumeing your GPU is not overheating or overclocked or running out of PSU

maybe try:
- render in place and export with that?
- change NR values slightly and export?
- compound clip and export from that?
- all the above?

I think Dermot is on to something: I think your system is completely stressed out and it's "breaking" the GPU, creating artifacts in the render.

Three possible solutions:

1) let the machine completely cool off (like shutting down) an hour prior to the render
2) don't run anything in the background once you reboot
3) consider rendering at a slower speed to reduce the load on the system, like maybe 25fps or even 10fps. See if that works.

Otherwise, post your system specs (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS, etc.) and see if that provides a diagnosis.

strange artifacts pop up

Well, that's a new one.

What GPU and driver are you using?

What are the media and export specs?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I had the same problem. I realised the artifacts were appearing when I had a node in HSL color space (without grade) AND denoise.
