SPEED test in 10.9.5

Hi,

I'm noticing erratic speed tests from a disk since installing the 10.9.5 update. The speediest results, (if I leave it running) can range from 250 read speed down to practically zero.

It's a proavio Raid 5 on the end of an 2314 Highpoint Raid card. It's as though the OS is controlling the throughput of the drive and it is random rather than consistent speed. if I test internal drives the tests can be quite consistent. Not so with anything on that bus.

Any advice appreciated.

Anyone else able to help on this? I think I have it down to permissions issue. MAC OSX permissions are read and write , but BMD speediest thinks this disk is read only?
