Isolating skin tones

PostMon Nov 10, 2014 8:09 pm

Hello

I am new to Davinci resolve and i am trying to do some complex grades. The grade i am trying to follow is the orange teal grade. However i am having great trouble isolating the skin tones even masks arent getting me good results. Any advice would be appreciated.

There are at least four or five ways to do the Orange/Teal look -- a look I think is overrated -- and some don't necessarily require masks.

As a general rule, if you have to pull a very isolated key from fleshtones, and the actors are walking in and out of light, getting a solid key is going to be challenging. An articulated tracking powercurve window can help avoid any problems, but it takes time and finesse.
