Noise Reduction Question

PostWed Dec 10, 2014 4:29 am

I have used Neat Video for the past three years and love it. However, now that I am doing all color grading in Resolve, I'm wondering how Neat Video compares to the NR in Resolve. Is anyone using Neat Video in Resolve; and if so, how does it compare to Resolve's version of Luma/Chroma NR version in v11.?

I think Neat is comparable to Temporal NR, but neither better nor worse. Just different. There are more parameters to tweak in Neat Video, but it still has to be rendered.

Thanks for your response, Marc. In what way do you find them different? I think that NV looks "glassier" for lack of a better term, but not sure how it functions in Resolve vs. FCPX.

Has anyone had a chance to do any critic comparison in Resolve?

Neat video in my experience will clean up more noise than Resolves Temporal Noise Reduction but for quick fixes resolves NR is great and closer to real time.
