Logitech G13 Keypad + Resolve

PostMon Mar 09, 2015 9:10 pm

So after coming across these posts (See Bottom ) I went ahead and ordered a g13 gaming pad in order to map out my most frquently used Resolve shortcuts and operations.

This should work great paired with my Avid Artist Color and Wacom tablet, making it very efficient (and fast) to work.

However, there's one thing i don't know how i'd map: switching in between active nodes. Seems like i'm forced to use the mouse +double click for this operation and it's not listed anywhere in the manual.

Can any of the Mods/Developers chime in on this?

Also, is anyone here use this, or any other, pads in order to supplement their work stations ?

Curious to see other peoples layouts

Unless BMD allow for for a keyboard shortcut to be allocated to the previous/next node functions, the only way you'll be able to utilise them is if you have access to a dedicated control surface that has under the hood access to Resolve.

I myself use a Tangent Wave, and then use a software called Controllermate to map different functions to a Logitech G-13, a X-Keys XK-60, and I also map the offset functions to a dedicated Kensington trackball, allowing for simultaneous adjustments to Lift, Gamma, Gain, and Offset. It's all a bit frugal and slap-dash, but it does the job (at least until I can afford a fancier set-up). Have a search through this forum for further advice, and also check out the Lift Gamma Gain website. Full of really useful information and advice :)

Yea thats what I figured, but it's a shame since that is a very very useful command

Also, what benefits do you have using Controller-mate over the Logitech software?

Here is another option: my OxygenTec ProPanel has dedicated next/last node buttons and these Panels are an 'affordable' alternative to the traditional units and feature really high quality track balls. Mate the ProPanel with a $250 X-Keys 68 Jog/Shuttle with sixty eight dedicated and programmable back-lit keys and you have a Resolve match made in heaven.

A little question, as most of those functions shown above are already mapped to the artist surface by BMD, what do you want to gain by mirroring on a controler? time spent pressing buttons to get through menu's?
functions like play fwd/rev, step fwd/rev save 1-8, recall 1-8 have dedicated buttons already...

Some functions are just in too deep into the structure to make them efficient more me.

Others are just more comfortable to have next to certain other ones.

Also, the control surface doesnt have any editing benefits other than the transport controls, so i'll be able to map the essential Resolve editing options to a second page

Attached is a still of my current config, some keys are subject to change

The whole first line of shortcuts will like be changed since these are indeed readily available on the panel, i just had some space that needed to be filled

Very useful for Resolve, and for editing generally, though when it comes to gaming keypads, I prefer the ergonomics of the Razor Orbweaver. Credit goes to Tobias Beul for introducing me to it: http://www.tobiasbeul.de/blog/katana

That is the exact setup I have. I will be labeling it soon and will post photos. I have programmed the X-Keys 68 to work up to 320 keys using 4 keys to toggle each key to have 5 different shortcut possibilities. The color combination of the 4 keys at lower left let me know which settings I am working with.

This link below is the image of ControllerMate page that controls the keys and changes colors of the keys for each of the groups settings. Only have 4 colors combinations, either red, blue, red and blue, or off. All colors can be turned off too if I do not like the glow from the controller. It may look confusing, I will share the final version when I am done.

Wow, you've really taken the X-Keys programming to the limit! You know that the backlight LEDs can be dimmed to any desired level. I have mine set so I can just see them in a dimly lit edit suite and have managed to programme each of the main transport control buttons around the Jog/Shuttle controller so that they command both Resolve and Lightworks, my NLE. This makes it a fluent process when switching from an edit to a grading session.

Craig,

I didn't Program to dim they keys yet, once I gave completed all the settings I may do that. The Permanent Keys page is where I have settings for the keys around the Jog//Shuttle like you. It is a great tool in combination with the OxygenTec ProPanel, nice setup for < $1100.
