Is there a way to run Resolve on a Linux box (with full Resolve license) without a control surface? I searched the net for a definitive answer but found some contradicting answers. What I'd like to do is build a simple Linux box with 2-4 Nvidia GPUs and plenty of RAM and hopefully be able to run Resolve on it under Linux (CentOS).
Hello, Goran, DaVinci Resolve for Linux license is different from the Win/Mac full license, in that it is generally only available in a bundle with Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve colorist control surface, as a part of the specially configured solution by one of the Blackmagic Design resellers/integrators.
Linux Resolve requires a custom built system disk. It cannot be installed over top of an existing Linux installation.
Linux Resolve only supports the BMD panel set. A Linux Resolve license dongle comes with the panel set.
When Resolve 12 is released, the Remote Rendering option should allow you to render to a Linux Resolve system Javier. Assuming it shares databases and storage with the Mac.
If you have a "certify" Linux resolve and you unplug the panel to use on a mac temporally, the Linux resolve will probably complain that does not find the panel but it will work.
