Cuda Hardware for Windows without external videocard ?

PostFri Dec 28, 2012 8:06 pm

Hi I've just received that ''no cuda acceleration hardware" while trying to launch the Davinci software.
And I can't seem to find the answer to my questions which is.
Do I need a external Video-card to use Davinci?

This is my configuration I"m using a
64 bit Core I-5 Dell Note book with a 2.30 ghz CPu and 6.0 GB RAM
Windows 7 with an on-board Intel graphic card.

What else do I need?

Sorry If my question is stupid but I didn't this information anywhere else!

Thanks

You need a Resolve supported graphics system, and Intel graphics are not that. There is no way to make your notebook run Resolve. For Windows Resolve, you need a CUDA capable NVIDIA graphics card/chipset.

We have not qualified any Windows notebooks to run Resolve, but there are people running Resolve on Windows notebooks that have adequate NVIDIA graphics chipsets.

The Windows Resolve Config guide can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=931

Thank you for the reply Dwaine, do you think if I get one of the CUDA capable NVIDIA graphics card/chipset, listed in the config guide, do you think it would run with my config, or no way?

Thank you for the Help

If you have a notebook PC, I don't know how any of the recommended cards would help you. If your notebook PC has a replaceable graphics adapter in it, and you could replace the Intel graphics with NVIDIA, then perhaps that would work.

What a bummer, you're Right!
I really wanted to use the davinci software, And I was thinking about upgrading my note for maybe a macbook or a powerful one, but now I just don't know anymore for what kind!!!!!

What Would you do in my case, if you couldn't get a resolve interface, or a super HP desktop?

Thanks for the explanation!

Several MacBook Pro's support Resolve. You can see a list in the Mac Resolve Config guide at the same link as the Windows Resolve Config guide.

I can't answer what I would do in your case, because I don't know what you want to do with Resolve. For HD and SD type work, a notebook PC could be adequate. If you are looking to do work at a higher than HD resolution, then normally a more powerful desktop system might make more sense.
