Help with Resolve and imac

PostSat Sep 05, 2015 12:53 pm

My imac wont work with Resolve, so i'm going to by a new imac.

I don't understand there min requirements, so the one im looking to buy has a AMD Radeon m290 graphics card, dose this matter or dose it have to be a Nvidia gtx graphics card?

I want it for RAW or pro ress, no need for 2k or 4k

I can't seem to find a imac with 4gb graphics card, most are 2gbs.

I wanted to know will it work on this imac.

Heres the specs

Apple iMac with Retina 5K display MF885B/A All-in-One Desktop Computer, Quad-core Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 1TB, 27"

Graphics card Information
AMD Radeon R9 M290, 2GB

Graphics card type Information
Dedicated

Will it work? Any body? help

It will work but is really on the small side.
You can also choose the bigger R9 M295x with 4 GB RAM. I'd also take the i7 processor and add RAM later.

I have a late 2012 iMac with 3,4GHz i7, NVidia GTX680MX with 2GB and 3TB Fusion Drive. I bought it with 8GB RAM and put 2 more 8GB RAM chips in the other slots. It's okay, but already fighting hard with 4k Video.

Definitely take the bigger graphics card!

Thanks man.

No one answearing must be tough question.

I found A 2013 model, used but i might get that as its got the Nvidia GTX 775M with 2GB.

If yours is Ok but strugles with 4k, then it should be fine for me as I dont plan on working with 4k anytime soon.

The 2013 iMac should be fine. The biggest issue is having a good graphic card that supports Resolve. Otherwise for HD, you can use any newer iMac (last 3-4 years). It's 4K editing that takes the advanced horsepower.
